Ableton Midi-Mapping with DDJ-SX

Post by dylst » Mon May 26, 2014 2:46 am

I'm trying to use the DDJ-SX as a controller, so I can midi-map its pots to Ableton Live 9.

In Ableton Preferences, in the MIDI Sync settings, I have Input/Output set to "PIONEER DDJ-SX", and both Track settings below set to "ON" for both Input/Output. In the Audio settings, I have Input set to "PIONEER DDJ-SX". When I set Midi Mapping on in Ableton, none of the pots/pads on the DDJ-SX effect Ableton unfortunately.

Now, I read that the DDJ-SX has a "Utility Settings" mode that you can turn on by unplugging the USB to your computer, turning on the DDJ-SX and holding the SHIFT+PLAY buttons. Apparently when the Key Lock is on and FX1 has TAP enabled, it should be able to controller software other than Serato.

Unfortunately, I can't get midi-mapping to work! In a random forum, someone mentioned they had to download specific software or firmware for this to work, but I have no idea what this is or where to find it.

Any suggestions welcome! Thank you!
