Chromatic play of midi tracks in session mode

Post by Waldgeist » Fri May 30, 2014 6:45 pm

Hi community,

I'm a newbee to Ableton Live and I'm trying to play a Midi Track chromatically. I figured out how to do this in principle, but faced a problem I could not solve yet:

My Midi Track is a 4-bar bass line playing one note rhythmically; the rhythm pattern changes for each of the 4 bars. If I start the clip using my keyboard and wait for all 4 bars to finish, everything works fine and all 4 bars are played on the key I have chosen. However, if I change the input key in the middle of the clip, Ableton starts the whole clip over (i.e. it starts with the first bar), instead of continuing with the remaining 2 bars, but on the new key. This would be important for my song, since the rhythmic pattern of the bass line shall sound somewhat "randomized"; hence, I don't want the first bar to repeat too often.

Thanks in advance for your assistance,
Waldgeist
