Live 9 User Interface - Text is Very Small

Post by Harmonic Progression » Sun Jun 15, 2014 1:37 am

Hello from a new Live 9 and Push user.

Live 9 seems to have a very small user interface text size. I have good vision, but I wonder if we'll all be in trouble reading this product in 20-30 years. The UI text for buttons, drop-down menus, and even the tutorial window on the right side is all so small I feel I need reading glasses.

I use Asus PA248 24" screens with a 1900 X 1200 resolution and I sit about 24" from the screens. I have Mackie mixers on my desk and can't move the screens any closer, but if I did that would be too close for other software anyway.

To take the tutorials, I have had to resort to using the Windows "magnifier" so I can see the tutorial text clearly in the right-hand help pane. This will get me by for the tutorials, but there are other elements that I need to read and so it is not comfortable for long-term use. Another alternative is to slide my Live session over to a side monitor where I have changed the resolution from 1600 X 1200 to 1024 X 768. I can read the text, but that monitor is not my best working monitor.

I have looked in the setup and configuration screens and I cannot find any way to enlarge the text-based UI elements.

This is a serious issue for me, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Does Ableton/Live offer any solutions?

Preferences>Look And Feel>Zoom Display

should help.

Okay, now I feel like a knucklehead!

But that works wonderfully, so thank you!

Don't know why I didn't see it before, sheesh.

Maybe a little bit, but when I'm in Ableton Live, I'm usually not also working on my photos or graphic arts in the same screen.

Maybe one day I could have been tempted, but now it's good to have focus in life...

...besides, I once saw a kid about 16-17 years old riding his bike and texting on his phone at the same time. When he crashed into the back of a parked car, half the neighborhood saw it and laughed its collective ass off. That's when I decided to stop multitasking so much! :P
