waves elements crash

Post by simpic » Mon Jun 30, 2014 7:22 pm

Hi im hoping someone my have experienced this and can give me a bit of help. I have installed waves element and done a vst folder rescan, element now shows in my plugin list and loads perfect first time. But when i minimise it and then go to recall it it is just a blank white interface and if i then go to close or minimise it i get a message saying there is a serious error and live will close. I have sent a crash report but curious to what this could be. Im on windows 7 64bit using ableton 9 intro. Help!

Simon

I did have another thought. Have you tried downloading the "offline" installers and seeing if you can get it to work that way? Or run the regular installer and use "repair?"

I'm just throwing out random thoughts.

Thanks for the replies eyeknow, the wave shell is 9.2 32bit. I haven't tried the repair or offline installers so ill give them a go after work and update my progress.

Cheers

The offline installers are PITA (it's like a GB to download) but that is worth a try.

Tried the offline installers and same problem. Its a waves issue as I tested in reaper and had same problem. The response from wave said that the software I use isn't supported and recommended I update my graphic adapter driver which I will try later so hopefully it will sort it.

Thanks for the replies :)

:?: Live is supported.

@reaper, yeah, I know it's not but I've seen countless people using waves here and with reaper with no issues (that includes element)

tip from Waves support:

I suggest we get a fresh start, let's remove Waves completely and reinstall.

Please take these steps to completely remove Waves from your PC:

If you have any Saved IR acoustics save the following folders located at:
C:\Program Files\Waves\Plug-Ins
IR1Impulses
IR1Impulses V2
Acoustics.net Impulses

Paste them on to your desktop.

Go to Add/Remove Programs and remove anything of Waves - Start > Settings > Control Panels > Add/Remove Programs
Go to Program Files and delete the Waves folder. - My Computer > Hard Drive > Program Files > Waves
Go to the Start Menu > Search > For all files and folders and search for "Waveshell". Delete any entry you may find.
C:\Users\youruser\AppData\Roaming\Waves Audio

If you don't see the AppData folder it's probably hidden. On the explorer window click on Organize > Folder and Search Options, go to the View tab. Under Advanced Settings, under Hidden Files and Folders make sure it is set to Show Hidden Files, Folders, or Drives.

Delete the Caches and Preferences folders from that location.
Empty the recycle bin.

Now we will need to re-install Waves.

Here is a link to download "Waves Online/Offline Installer" V9. When you get to "Installation Type Menu", check Gold and Renaissance Maxx only, scroll down to Single Plug-Ins and check Element, PuigTec and Waves Tune only.

Now, depending if you're using Ableton Live in 64 or 32 bit, let's check that the scanned folders are the right one.

Go to Options > Preferences > File/Folder.
Under "Plug-In Sources" toggle "Use VST Plug-In System Folder" On
Click on Browse on VST Plug-ins Custom Folder.
Live in 32 bit - Make sure there is no Waveshell-VST9.2_x64.dll file there.
Live in 64 bit - Make sure there is no Waveshell-VST9.2.dll file there.
and Hit Rescan. This will scan the VST plug-in library.

Did you install the VST 64bit version?
Are you sure you didn't install the AU version by accident?

what do you mean by 'waves are saying its not supported' ?

as a side note, I run Element on Windows7 64bit. :)

So is it because it's live "intro" ??

That doesn't seem right

this sounds like a graphics issue...

try and update your graphics drivers... if it works on Live full version it should work on "intro" as well....

I think he said he did that.

Also, are you working at 44.1k? have you tried a different sample rate? I'm just randomly throwing out ideas at this point thinking back on experiences I've had.
