Android apps: Comments on TouchDAW and LivKontrol?

Post by unix23 » Thu Jul 03, 2014 6:01 pm

I have been looking at the available information for both:

Anyone using one or both? I'd like to hear some feedback.

Right now I'm leaning more towards TouchDAW because of its MackieControl protocol support/mixer focus with nice channel strips and meters but my ears are open.

I've tried both. I thought LivKontrol had more interesting functionality - the control script basically delivered more; whereas I don't think mackie emulation really gets that much out of live. Because I was trying to use them on a samsung s3 the scren space was a significant limitation. in both instances the reliance on midi bussing outside of live put me off. An additional con was the wirelessness. For me the only point of these controllers would be in a live environment, where real time control matters. i couldn't think of a wireless scenario that I could trust - unless I just invited people round my place. they are both well designed though.
