Ableton verbs vs others; plugin and hardware

Post by Faldoe » Tue Jul 29, 2014 5:48 am

What are you thoughts on Live's reverbs vs other plugins and hardware? I had an Alesis Midiverb 4 a couple of years ago but I sold it. Some records I did then used it and they sound nice and I'm wondering whether I should pickup another, or if Live's reverbs are enough.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I like the stock reverb, but the convolution reverb that comes with M4L is awesome. Most everything is covered with those two.

Valhalla reverbs are king.

(Although, I have no idea how any of them do in recreating what the Midiverb does).

The stock stuff in live is fine, until you try something valahalla/any or NI's RC verbs (or a long list of others) and then the lightbulb goes on.

Try vintage verb (the demo) and a/b for yourself. They do have the annoying drop out demo restriction, but you'll get the idea. I like the RC verbs best overall, but they are not on sale right now so unless you can get them in a marketplace they are kinda expensive.
