Using VMPK in Ableton

I just watched a video by Ski Oakenfull using VMPK in Ableton. In a short tutorial video he shows that the way to do this is to go into MIDI configuration and simply select VMPK as an input device (of course after you install it). My problem is that I'm not seeing VMPK as an input device. Do I need to use Soundflower, or something like that to route VMPK to Ableton?
