Should add...
Only use my computer for tracking. Everything else is OTB for the most part.

my touring interface is an old Firewire MOTU Ultralite, and my home studio interface is an Apogee Quartet (USB). my main machine is a 2011 MacBook Pro and i have been running Mavericks since February. no glitches with either interface.chapelier fou wrote:Just to make this topic clear :

Motu told me it's an issue with mavericks. i've seen several users confirming this (http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... =2&t=57838).
I am about to take the plunge and downgrade to 10.8... But i'd be more than pissed off if it doesn't solve anything....
Oh and my macbook pro is just clean, super clean with just max/MSP, Ableton and drivers installed.

Are you sure that the problem isn't with your computer itself? Perhaps it has a dated CPU.

Re: A soundcard with no issues at all ?
So after realizing i cannot downgrade my macbook pro retina (that's f@cking unbelievable), i NEED to get rid of the motu and i mght go for a RME 802 through a FW/TB adaptor.
2 questions, though :
- can i plug a guitar in the front inputs ?
- did someone try using the headphones outs as regular outputs ?
thanks

Are the monitor outs able to be individual outs ? (i mean not mirror one of the 8 outs)joeyfivecents wrote:Saffire Pro 40 with Thunderbolt adaptor working perfectly here on both a MacBook Pro 13" non-retina 2012 model and an iMac 21" 2014 model, both running Mavericks 10.9.3

My Komplete Audio 6 works perfectly even after sleep with my 2011 MBP!login wrote: You shouldn't be using sleep mdoe with audio interfaces, it's always a problem.
I'm considering to change it to a used Motu 828 mk3 or a new Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 for more i/o though.. Haven't decided which one yet. According to the internetz Scarlett seems to have better overall sound quality, but Motu has more stable drivers.. Hard decisions..
I used to have Motu Ultralite mk3 which broke down violently after 4 years (first the screen died, then the outputs started to make this really loud buzzing noise...) so i'm a bit sceptical about the build quality of Motu interfaces!
