Midi over wifi latency

Hi,

I'm using my ipad to sequence a synth in live, it's all connected fine, the only problem is the latency.

It's connected via an ad hoc network I created, but when I record the midi in live its about an 8th note late.

I understand midi over a router can cause some latency but midi over an ad hoc network is supposed to be really low latency I read.

Any ideas on what I could do, aside from a hard cable connection?

Midi over Bluetooth is starting to catch on. But it requires that you have very new Bluetooth hsrdware. And the appropriate software $$

Network will never really be low latency compared to other options.
