You'll get a good discount, if not a free upgrade. If not, it never hurts to ask.TheNobleNemesis wrote:I bought Pro-Q last month...
Et tu, Fabfilter?
I own Pro G, L, and C so I should as well, but it basically catches it up with Equilibrium, with a few twists.
So it's sort of like owning two Rolls Royces if I bought it.

Looks very cool, definitely taking a lot of nods from the current batch of favorite EQs. I didn't think the first version really add much for me given that I already used Equilibrium quite happily. This looks like a nice one to have on hand though, being able to directly grab and EQ peaks of the music is a brilliant idea.

This is an insta-buy for me. Well, depends on the price to upgrade, might not be instant. But it's a definite buy.Tarekith wrote:Looks very cool, definitely taking a lot of nods from the current batch of favorite EQs. Re: Pro Q 2
I missed in the video if you can use the little keyboard just with the mouse or if you can actually play it like in Equilibrium.
That has turned out to be quite a creative tool for me.
Otherwise, yeah I'm not in the market for a second Rolls Royce

Re: Pro Q 2
I honestly thought Live 9s EQ8 had everything I needed but then FF go and lunch spectrum grab-must have feature for next Live update imo

Re: Pro Q 2
The spectrum grab is the main thing that would draw me towards this but honestly if you notice after the spectrum grab happens a standard parametric EQ node is put in place at the frequency and gain levels to try and match how you moved the spectrum.
In essence you can do the same with any EQ that has a spectrum overlay which shows an "after" eq mode.
Not to say that it isn't cool or diminish the ProQ 2. I love FabFilter GUI design, probably some of the most functional I've seen. (I will definitely keep completing my Fabfilter collection over time.
Just saying.... don't feel like you neeeeeeed it, you can still get by with your EQ8.
If you really want to shape your spectrum look to a spline EQ like Voxengo Curve EQ, that thing is awesome for sculpting. Speaking of that, a spectrum grab on a spline EQ now THAT would be amazing.

Re: Pro Q 2
Is there a compressor or limiter out there that has a similar spectrum grab? Seems like that would be even more useful on one of those than on an EQ.

Hm, I’ll have to look into it. I own Pro-C, Pro-L, and Timeless but I don’t own any third party EQs, use the stock EQ’s in Live and Logic. Is there really a lot to gain with the third party options?
Re: Pro Q 2
For compressors and EQs I guess it all comes down to the ergonomics more than anything. I mean, certainly 3rd party stuff can have it's own sound that people like too (UAD). But for every day duties I still tend to reach for EQ8 versus grabbing Equilibrium.
Depends on what you're trying to do too though I suppose. Certain EQs have functions solely to themselves that you might find handy.

FWIW, I think Pro-MB is in a league of it's own in terms of being transparent and giving you multiband dynamics processing. I normally don't like using MB compression unless I really need to (1-2 times a year?), but Pro-MB is so useful that I use it more and more. Changing the stereo width of individual bands is really useful for all the "way too wide" mixes I get sent.
