Using Ableton 64 bit?
Using Ableton 64 bit?
I've been running 32-bit Live 9.1 for awhile and it's been fine except for hosting instruments like Izotope Breaktweaker and other CPU hungry plugs. I've upped my Mac to 13 GB of RAM and would like to try Live 64-bit. Can I have 32 and 64 on the same machine? Also I want to keep the Live content the same and not download it again.

How do I download the 64 bit version without the content?

well, 32 and 64 feed from the same library, but i guess you will have to download the whole 700mb file.

You do know that CPU and RAM are not the same thing, right? going 64 bit is not likely to make much, if any difference unless you've been maxing out your ram (not your cpu)

I've just installed x64 Live this week (alongside 32 bit) due to crashes with memory problems. So far no problems (as long as you have 64 bit VSTs).

...and THIS ^ should be enough reason to go 64 bit.forestcaver wrote:I've just installed x64 Live this week (alongside 32 bit) due to crashes with memory problems. So far no problems (as long as you have 64 bit VSTs).
Ableton should also consider changing their language on the matter; cause the current FUD policy (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) isn't serving any Ableton customers very well.
