backing up/restoring vsts

is it as simple as backing up Library Folder locations of Plugins/Presets? then just moving them to proper location one install is done?
I'm migrating from Leopard to Mavericks finally and want to do a clean install. I plan on manually re-installing simple apps, then selectively restore things like Ableton, Pro Tools, etc from my Carbon Clone...I just don't want to have to re-install all VSTs
does that sound ok? any recommendations do it other wise?
