Have Live follow click-track from Trigger device?

Hey guys! Would it be possible to set up Live 9 so that it starts recording at an incoming signal (from an Alesis Trigger IO, say either as a note or a trig of some sort) and keeps recording in the tempo of the external signal? I've been trying to find out info on this with Google, but find too much irrelevant info.

Anybody know a solution?

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated!

1. could you slave Líve's tempo to another device's midi clock. If yes, you could set up Live for recording and then press go on the master sequencer
2. if you have max for live there's a faír number of bpm detectors out there. I think one is called beat detector
3. if you set up looper as tempo master you can get to set the bpm. you press record and bar length, when you press stop recording it sets bpm. i think. i haven't tried it
4. you could midi map tap tempo. i don't see it working very well though.
5. getting live to start automatically from a audio signal would need some sort of max for live device that output fired a start playing api call to live's transport. fairly doable I think. the logic of dealing wíth a sequence of volume spikes would probably need the most thought.
