Re: New NI Traktor controller
I want one very badly. Been waiting ages for them to ditch the jog wheels, love my s4 but I never use them.

But with that device the circle is complete.
What do DJs with that thing still need the computer for?!
That little bit of audio play back and the few effects don't need it.
They should make it a self contained Traktor box and be done with it.
Would probably sell like hotcakes too.

But what do you need the screens for? Arranging the Beatgrid would be a pain in the ass with that.

I agree with this. It think this looks pretty cool - totally down with the decision to ditch the jog wheels.TomViolenz wrote:But with that device the circle is complete.

No need to look at the laptop screen, but it starts to seem like a bit of a weakness to need the laptop at all.
Something like this but with the playback/processing/storage built in (not beyond the bounds of possibility, surely?) -
now that really would be next level! (and would sell like hotcakes).
Re: New NI Traktor controller
I think this is the actual hardware different from what I posted above.
Unless there will be 2 different controllers. The first pic says S4 and the second says S8.

Re: New NI Traktor controller
Some early hints from a trusty source:
- The LCD was designed to allow DJing without looking at the laptop
- No more jog wheel, so it's going to be easier to carry. It's now using a ribbon strip like the X1 MK2
- Can be used as a stand alone mixer like the Z2, but with 4 channels
- Fader and Crossfader can be installed by user
- Build in F1
- Vinyl Time Code
- Using capasitive knobs, so the movement value will be shown on the LCD
- Price $1.299

And I’m willing to bet the screens aren’t touch screens.
Their iPad app is pretty robust. They should make a standard size mixer for that and/or hardware decks with a sturdy built-in stand so the iPad doesn’t fly onto the floor when you touch it. That would also get rid of the need for a laptop.
And I’m there are some iPad DJ apps that can access Spotify so now not even DJs need to pay for music.
Re: New NI Traktor controller
If it's an standalone mixer I think it's well priced.

It is not. You need to have it hooked up to a computer....much like Maschine.
Re: New NI Traktor controller
Between the price of this mixer and their new keyboard it seems they feel they’ve become the Apple of electronic music, walled garden and all.

I WANT IT ALL.
Komplete whatever ultimate (the recent one, not the one just dropping) has been a brilliant buy.
I always thought their stuff was a bit meh - having been a komplete owner for ages.
Mike Huckaby turned me back on to the NI stuff and it's really amazing.
I don't doubt this will be excellent too.
Ableton is still the daw, but the ni stuff seems to get better and better........

Re: New NI Traktor controller
I wonder if it supports iPad? Simple way to carry the actual audio files if you don't want the laptop. The S4 does, so I'm guessing yes.

Pioneer makes an iPad mixer
Says it supports multiple DJ apps but not specifically Traktor.
