I have been having some problems making a guitar sound like this... at 1:20 in this track...

Some guitar like pluck comes in. But I cannot work out if this is a live guitar sample or a synth patch. Does anyone have any ideas?
How do they make these deep house guitars?

Sounds like a simple bit of clean guitar to me with a little delay and some filtering. Shouldn't be to hard to re-create

Yeah, sounds like a real guitar/sample. Reminds me of some of the playing/guitar sounds on Michael Jackson's Thriller album.

It sounds like a Stratocaster thru the clean channel of an amp. After it was recorded there is a low pass filter on it.

That also could be a funk guitar loop cut up map to a keyboard or some pads some of the maschine pack have guitar sounds like that

That's a real guitar or sample.
There is some light palm muting going on, and if I was setting up that sound on my rig I'd put on the compressor and some light chorus.
I would search funk guitar loops for something similar.
