Way to avoid popup dialogs in Live (ie save changes)?

Post by patrickstinson » Fri Sep 26, 2014 8:17 am

I am running Live on a headless (no monitor or keyboard) PC and need to figure out a way to tell it to load a set or shut down without popping a dialog asking for user input. Specifically these common cases come to mind:

- loading a set file without askin to save changes in the current set.
- Exiting the Live application without asking to save changes in the current set. This will happen when the computer is shut down, OR:
- launching Live via opening set file in explorer without complaining about not being properly shut down the last time it was run.

Starting to get the picture? All of these actions originate either with a command in a batch file or system shutdown, which means I have some flexibility in how they are executed. So if there is a way to communicate
to Live to force-perform the actions without asking for confirmation via some API, or if there is a way to fake the user input using some helpful Windows utility, this could work.

Thanks!

I wrote a comprehensive description on this problem here: http://vedanamedia.com/2015/01/ableton-pedalboard/.

Just jump down to the PC automation section to download the script.
