Possible to set Live's preferences remotely?

Post by patrickstinson » Sat Sep 27, 2014 9:46 pm

I am looking for a way to set Live's preferences remotely, meaning without a monitor/keyboard/mouse. I am working on Windows.

More specifically I want to automate setting the audio input and output devices. I don't see anything like this in the Live object model or remote scripts. Live implements it's own GUI library so traditional Windows automation tools like AutoIt (which is pretty amazing, BTW) that rely on standard Windows controls won't work. I am an experienced programmer and can learn any tool kit if necessary.

Ideas:

- Some other Api to control Live's preferences?
- Some way to edit Live's Preferences.cfg file which appears to be in a proprietary format?

Thanks!

When you say "remotely", do you mean over a LAN or the Internet? If so, then something like TeamViewer will let you do that job. Or did you mean that Live is running on a headless PC? If so, then I've no idea, sorry.

Yeah, I mean headless. The new Microsoft Remote Desktop is great for the usual desktop access but I'm making an Ableton pedalboard and need it to be more robust all on it's own.
