best way to save layered kicks (or any sound) ?

Post by CoreyJayzMusic » Thu Dec 18, 2014 5:51 pm

basically i just made my first layered kick and i want to know what would be the best way to save it

what i don't want is to route it all to one track and record it to one audio file

what i want to be able todo is save it in a way that would let me edit it later on, basically i want it to remain flexable because its my first kick, i really like how it sounds but im new to it and might want to change stuff later on, id like to keep each kick on its own "track" if that makes sense.

thanks in advance.

i have ableton suite 9
Ableton Suite 9.1, Komplette 9, Push, Novation LaunchKey49, Korg PadKontrol.

I reccomend racks. You can save it as a preset and drag it into any project.

For percussive sounds, use a drum rack. You can put all your layers in one cell so that playing that one midi note triggers all of your layered samples. Each layer sits on its own chain, in a rack, in the cell. Each chain contains a simpler or sampler (but not limited to,) with each sample for your layers. If you have auido effects processing your layers, just stick them after the sampling instrument.

Drum Racks or Instrument Racks -- both provide good workflow for layering sounds and saving them as a single unit.

Drag your drum rack back into your browser, it will save it in there for using later.
