Auto making clips from arrangement view?

Hi there! I'm using Ableton Live to record my modular - got it all synced up, sending a MIDI-signal from the modular to Live. I got 10 separate tracks coming into Live from the modular via an ADAT/Babyface. I can record into the arrangement view fine this way, but I haven't figured out the best way of either recording clips or turning the arrangement recordings into clips. I've searched for this in the Live manual and with Google, but can't really find any info on how to record clips when Live is synced to an external clock.
So, basically, I want to know how to do one (or both) of the following;
- to automatically turn the recordings in arrangement view into clips, say quantized to bars (I know I can do this manually by using TAB and switching between the views, but it's a tedious process when you got several bars you want into separate clips)
- to record into clips directly, but with the recording starting once the external clock starts (I can't sync this, for some reason)
Anyone got any clue?
