I've been searching on the forums but I've only really found cruft.. and old "help me!!" type stuff so I'm asking this question:
I've got my Powerbook 800mhz running Live 4.1.1 and 10.3.7.
I need to find a Firewire card with at least 8 outs.... I want a used motu 828 but won't have enough time to find one on ebay with time to practice the livepa.. so I was thinking of just getting an M-Audio Firewire 410...
Are the drivers shit on mac?
Anyone with any experience with this card on a mac would be greatly appreciated!
quick question regarding osx + m-audio

I use a firewire 1814 and love it and have had no problems on my ibook. I got the 1814 because I need more ins than outs.
I don't think the firewire 410 has 8 outs.

Works fine with my iBook 933MHz (Panther) and G5 2x2GHz (Tiger). The 410's Mic Amps are a bit insensitive. The controllers need to be turned up almost fully when in use with an E855 and fine-tuning to avoid clipping is not easy. But that's a hardware issue and has nothing to do with Win/Mac. With an AE5400 it's a bit better because that's a condenser mic with a higher output signal level.
But the 410 is not a card but an external box that's connected via Firewire.
