this also happens to me in Ableton 11 now.. I have to place two low cuts sometimes to fully cut the lows... even up to the 70-80 hz range... really quite dumb.

step 1: use your ears
step 2: if the cut isn’t enough, use the x4 slope on the filter AND/OR move the cutoff frequency AND/OR change the Q value
step 3: use your ears

bonus step: don’t use your eyes

there’s a reason it’s called *audio* engineering. :wink:

Most words used in audio, like "cut" or "warm", are not literal.

EQs reduce gain X dB per octave. So if a EQ reduces -48 per octave, one octave below (for high pass) the sound should be reduced -45 (cutoff is already set to -3db), not -inf.

Considering 32-bit has a huge dynamic range, a -48db/octave cut should show activity even several octaves above or below cutoff (almost 7 octaves).
