I wasn't aware of this as a bug?

I haven't seen others complain about it.

Unplug all your midi controllers and audio interface plus turn them off in Preferenced, turn off all scripts in midi 'Control Surfaces' in preferences, and make go into key mapping and midi mapping and delete all mappings.

Does the behavior still happen?

I've had it in 9.1.6. I'm not sure how you can provoke it so can't say about 9.1.7.

Thanks for posting the link to possible fixes. Since that thread is 4 pages long, I’ve pasted the possible causes & fixes:


First Possible Fix

Just got this error today as well on Live 9 standard 64 bit. I tried restarting and it returned. Tabbing in between Session and Arrangement on the second comp monitor is working for now, could be a quick fix option.

Second Possible Fix

For those of you who are still having this issue, next time it happens - try this:

1) Select an EQ8 from the lib (or anything I guess, EQ8 was what I used)
2) Drag it on to the scrollbar
3) While still holding it on the scrollbar, right-click your mouse (which should cancel the action of placing the EQ8)

After this, mine stopped doing it - I have no way of re-verifying this so if anyone does have it happen to them, do let me know the outcome of this

Ok, so I think I've managed to verify that this occurs when you drag a new device (be it a live device or a VST or even a sample/wav) across the arrangement view/session view.. Live kicks in its automated scrolling so that the user can scroll to the point where they want to drop it.. Only sometimes you're not aiming to drop it in the arrangement view or the session view (but instead in the device chain for example) - it carries on the trend because I think it somehow loses track of where the cursor was at the last point.

My workaround above works to resolve in each case that this happens (or has done for me anyway) and I think the scrollbar is the 'if object is past this point, stop scrolling' trigger, I reckon we're perhaps flicking the mouse over the scrollbar too quickly for it to realise that we've done so, thus spawning the auto scroll bug.

More Evidence That Problem Involves Dragging

I have experienced this since the inception of live 9.
It usually happens when I drag in a max device.
Seems it is not exclusive to PC or MAC, or M4L devices.

I had a similar problem in 10.0.1 today, but it wouldn’t stop scrolling vertically.
Creating a new scene and deleting the scene it made it stop.

skiMo your "2nd possible fix" worked for me. I still experienced this issue using Isotonik's Follow Scene plugin (Max for Live) in Ableton 10 (10.0.6). I did a hot-swap to verify a new file location for the plugin and then all the sudden I was auto-scrolling down through the tracks/scenes in Session view. I added the containing folder to my sidebar and dragged it out into the track area without letting go of the mouse. Then I dragged my mouse to an area where the pointer had a "prohibition sign" under it (circle with a slash through it), and I released the mouse (cancelling the action, like you said). Immediately the auto-scrolling stopped. Worked for me! Thank you very much!

Confirming this bug is still in 10.1. Happened to me mid-gig. I will try the insert track trick or toggle to arrangement view next time and see if that works and report back.
