Re: Can I purge all presets from Core Library?

The core library is write-only, and can't be deleted.

Nor can it be hidden.

There's been a number of requests for Ableton to make categories in the Core Library hide-able. We wait in hope.

In the meanwhile, what I tend to do is ignore the core library, and build up the library that I want in the User library.

I think they probably thought they would give folks some presets to start off with.

But yes, it's silly that there is no hide function. For now, we just have to ignore it and work around it.

It would be nice to be able to do that. Presets in Live serves mostly as indicators of what you can do and learning materials. Few are so good that you want to use them as is. So far only the pianos and instruments like that work for me as is.

I feel that overall the quality of presets in Live undersells the quality of the Live instruments, which is a pity.

You're right that users can focus on the user library for their own library of presets and everything else important. Make sure you back up the user library folks!
Make some music!
