Hello, i feel like an absolute numnut.. re 'setting' up preferences, i do not have the 'Live/ About Live menu where you can set preferences and i think this is because 1. I do not have Live and am using my keyboard / no device or 2. the 'settings' web video is showing apple/mac menu ?

Yeah, I noticed that when I was watching the video. The issue is that the instructor is using the Mac version of Live. For Windows, the Preferences command is under the Options menu, all the way at the bottom of the list.
You can also get to it by using Ctrl+,(comma)
