Why does Audio in Ableton sounds duller than WMP?

Post by Audit » Tue Feb 17, 2015 10:52 pm

Hello,

To expand. When i listen to a full(commercial) song in .wav format in Windows Media Player its sounds a lot brighter and fuller than it does should i load the same file into an audio track in ableton. No enhancements on my WMP (eq or bass red) Was just wondering why this may be?

Thankyou.

the WMP might have a default eq. it might be designed to make music sound brighter. sorta like dre beats is designed to make music have more low end.

Plus, Windows itself might have sound enhancement turned on. ASIO usually sidesteps this when you use Live. And Live wouldn't dare push extra volume that you didnt intentionally add. WMP might 'drive' the volume a little so you're able to crank it to 11 without it breaking up the sound quality.

In Live you might be using warping, or some other things that could hurt the quality of your sound.
