2nd Ask For Help. Desperate Now!

Post by samurai1 » Mon Mar 30, 2015 7:21 pm

Hi there,

Basically I lost my VSTs late last year.

But I need to re access the project file to edit a track I made.

But after re-finding and installing the VST, the project file wont recognise the VST.

How do I make the ASD file recognise the VST please?

Hope to hear from someone

Make sure your vsts are in a dedicated plugin folder (either system or custom). Go to Live > Preferences > File Folder and at the bottom select whether you are using the plugin system folder or a custom folder. Then hit the rescan plugins. Your vsts should appear in your vst folder.

Hope this helps.

Are you by any chance using Live 64bit and the plug-in is 32bit? Or vice versa. They need to be of the same bit, so to speak or you need a bridging solution.
Make some music!

Im not looking to find the VSTs in a dedicated folder as the first reply says.
I have located the VST fine

The plugin and laptop are 64 bit.

I notice I can drag and drop the same VST setting and that recovers the lost sounds.
But there's far too much guessing and this way will not fix it.

You need to give us more information. Just a quick tip, if you're asking for help give too much information rather than too little.
Here's what I mean:

We now know you're dealing with Live in 64 bit mode, but you never mention whether the old set up was 32 bit or not.

You never even mention whether you're on Mac OSX or PC Windows.

How the hell did you "lose" your VSTs? did the cr[a]ck time out?

On a more serious note did your old laptop die?

Are all your plug ins not being recognized in Live? or just in a particular song?

In the above last sentence in your reply it sounds like the VST is recognized, (instantiated) but the preset is not, is that the case?
