Bag for a BIG laptop

Post by Patch » Tue Jun 21, 2005 9:19 am

I've just got hold of a 17" widescreen laptop - any suggestions as to which bag I could lug it around in? I want to be able to fit the laptop, the big battery/power cable along with a mouse and UC-33e. I've been looking everywhere and none of the big bags I've seen have enough padding and space for my controller. I quite liked the look of the M-Audio bags - but they don't seem big enough to hold my gear.

Anyone using a 17" lappy with a bag that holds it along with a large(ish) controller and battery/power cable???

Cheers guys - sorry to post something with no mention of L5 in it!

Yeah, Maudio do a big one - this isn;t a plug btw - I bought mine last year from Nusystems - soemthing like 75 quid I think. It's got good padding, space for a UC33 or a 2 octave controller keyboard. Certainly worth checking out...

Got a Vaio backpack from Ebay, excellent, meant for 17 laptops, dont remember what I paid around 50 Euro but it was new and the original price tag said 139 which is I would never pay.. It is very comfortable specially considering my heavy P4, can fit the microKontrol Korg but have to leave the zip open, 2 octaves fit OK.

this 2 part bag has definitely lived up to all the hype i read about it. fits both a 17-inch laptop plus remote25 (barely.. though it'll swallow up the uc-33 with room to spare). a lot of room for a normal sized backpack, and tough as hell:

I have a Targus laptop backpack which easily carries my Alienware 7700 and accessories, along with an Oxygen 8.

fwiw, I've used a Targus bag extensively for my 15" laptop, I liked it a lot. I'm currently using the bag that came with my 17". and have been thinking about getting a better carrying method-- based on the positive Targus http://targus.com experience I'm looking at that brand, and based on the number of cafe' chairs I've knocked over with the current "trad shoulder bag' for the 17 :-) I'm thinking a Targus backpack is the way to go.

I have a Tarus backpack.

It is awesome. Loads of protection for the laptop.... lots of extra room for batteries, cables, gear. And you can take it on an Airplane along with a suitcase and get by as carry-on.... (Because the airlines say you can take 1 carry-on bag + 1 personal item such as a purse, or laptop computer. Since your laptop goes in the backpack, they let you go without checking it at the gate.

I have the m-audio bag and a 17 inch powerbook. I carry the trigger finger in the bag with the powerbook, cables, digital camera, magazines, etc. It's plenty big enough for a lot of stuff man. I've even had my traveler and the powerbook in the same m-audio bag.
peace,

I have a Targus XL backback and it is great. Plenty of room for a large laptop and a small keyboard controller, plus cables, headphones, even a mic. The laptop compartment protection is pretty decent - you can always get a Tucano laptop sleeve for extra protection.
