What's a good place for an artist's website?

Post by jbw » Wed May 06, 2015 6:21 am

I am aiming to do some self releases, and wanted to have a website to sort of act as a hub, for basic things like contact information and news, etc.

I know nothing about coding, so yes a service that has pre-built stuff available is a must. I was also thinking of securing a domain name just for the heck of it, though I doubt I'll sell more than 100 copies of anything I release, so that feature isn't necessarily a requirement.

I was thinking of even just resorting to using Facebook, but have never used Facebook and don't really like Facebook.

At any rate... Any experience anyone might have, or any wisdom anyone might impart, please share!

Try https://bandcamp.com. You can sell digital, vinyl and merchandise.

+1 for Bandcamp. You can link it to a band Facebook page or Twitter feed as well (FB and/or Twitter work well for news etc, Bandcamp is good for selling stuff)

Yeah I have heard of Bandcamp. Also heard of Soundcloud, who hasn't by now, not really a fan of that site though.

Anyone here use Tumblr?

Tumblr is... An abomination... I think I will stay far far away from that site.
