Synthi AKS Pack?

Post by jbw » Wed May 13, 2015 6:39 am

Anyone have this Pack?

https://www.ableton.com/en/packs/synthi-aks

I'm a little confused as to what it contains. It lists clips and presets, so does that mean it has Sampler set up with multi-samples so you can play it like a synth? Or does it simply have sampled phrases, like melodies and baselines, which you can manipulate in Sampler?

Or both maybe?

Kind of hard to tell from the listing and audio examples. :?

Hi jbw,

I haven't got the Synthi AKS Pack, but a bit of googling turned up this, which provides more detailed information on the pack than the Ableton web shop page does (Not sure why this page has no links to it on the Soniccouture site though):

Hope this helps,
Berti

PS: Not sure if you know about this, but if you are interested in the Synthi AKS, you might want to check out Point Blank's free modular synth M4L device: http://plus.pointblanklondon.com/free-m ... lar-synth/

Thank you! Yeah I looked on their site and couldn't find anything either. Looks like it does have both, multi-sampled instruments and sliced samples. 8)

Went ahead and got it... For future reference, and anyone else wondering what this pack has...

There are three folders:

1. Clips. This folder has three subfolders: Acid Loops, Misc Loops, Slow Loops. Basically a bunch of clips. Description says 90 or so total and that looks to be the case. Some of the clips are just variations, with what appears to be different settings applied to the same sequence.

2. Sounds. These are the instruments. There are two subfolders: one for multi-sampled, and one for hits and ambiences. The hits and ambiences are also multi-sampled, it's just they are more experimental type of sounds. There are 27 hits and ambiences instruments, and 48 more "standard" sounding. Each one has macros mapped to the filter and ADSR.

3. Samples. This folder give you all the samples used. This folder is divided into two subfolders, one for the samples used in the clips, and then one massively huge list of the waves used in the multi-sampled instruments.

Was not anticipating that folder full of waves. Can be used for layering in Sampler. 8)
