Isotonik Studios Presents - DJ Collection

Post by S4racen » Sat May 16, 2015 10:54 am

The beauty of Ableton Live is that it can be used in so many ways, as back up tracks, a full DAW... Or even to DJ with...

My background is as a DJ for the past 30 years so Live for me presented a way to make perfect studio mixes way back with version 5....

As time has progressed i've dabbled with other solutions when playing out live, most notably Traktor and Serato, each have their advantages & it's these advantages that i've been working to replicate in Live using MaxforLive...

In our new DJ Collection we'll be delivering MaxforLive devices that replicate the key features from DVS systems that bring a spontaneity to your live performance...

First up is or Hot Cue device which allows you to record, play and delete hot cues on the fly (much like you can with a Dicer and Serato)

We have integrated versions for the Ableton PUSH and AKAI APC40 MKII and in this first video we show how the Universal MIDI solution can be used with any MIDI controller and configured to give tricolour feedback to LEDs if your controller supports it...

In the mean time here are some cue points, too. It works as I intended it to and provides a framework for people to tweak and perform with.

What effect rack were you using for that reverb + sidechain effect? That sounded epic.
Also will there be a way to loop the cue instead of having to press it over and over again?

The effect is called reverb pump, it's in most of our templates!

For it to loop..... That's coming at the same time a completely new Looper Device that doesn't use the loop brace and can be set to as low as 1/32 which has previously been impossible and of course leaves and previously set loops intact!

A walkthrough video for our DJ Looper device, this has been sent to all existing subscribers of our Modular Series as well as being part of our new DJ Collection...

It sets loops without engaged or moving the clips loop brace, and can set loops as low as 1/32 in size!

Tried the Looper yesterday and found it really effective indeed.

Any chance of a version with controls pre-mapped for Push in the near future ?

Hi Syver,

With our Oktopush device you can assign buttons from the Clip Launch Matrix and dictate how these behave with their lighting etc. the DJ Collection is intended as an upgrade for our various templates!

Glad you like it!
