Control freqency-range boost by midi note

Hello!

Is there a way to control the boost of a certain frequency, like when selecting "Bell" in FabFilter, by midi notes? So that the resonance of the filter plays the melody, that I play on my midi keyboard? For instance, if I play the A3 on my keyboard, i want 440Hz to be louder.
I have been trying for quite some time now, maybe you guys know a way to do that?

Thanks in advance,
Max

EDIT: Just found out that this might not belong here. Please delete if that is the case. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

One way would be if your keyboard has layers. Like, different midi channels layered on keys. Then you'd just map a key range to the frequency.

Also keep in mind that all the options have to be monophonic, not poly.

Another option is to use a resonant sounding device. Either Resonator (map with keys), or the resonator that comes with Corpus which accepts midi note input.

Finally with Max for Live, there is a midi device (multimap?) which allows various kinds of midi inputs to modulate a parameter. Map the key option and it'll do the trick.

Equilibrium can do exactly that.

Why?

- The M4L device Yur2die4 talked about is actually called "Expression Control".
- On many synths, filters have a "key%" parameter to control the frequency based on the note your playing.

Sorry for not answering earlier, I was camping for a couple of days.
I will try Equilibrium, sounds really promising and I will also have a look at "Expression control".
Thanks for your help guys!

Okay, now I tried both equilibrium and expression control, and they're both quite nice, but expression control I can only use with midi tracks and with equilibrium I dont know how to setup midi control inside of an audio track.
What I want to do is to have lets say the sound of wind in the forest as an audioclip and then EQ it by pushing keys on my midi klllllllllllllllllllllllllllllleyboard. Yeah.

I didnt find anything in the equilibrium manual, it does have an "MIDI disabled" option though, so I guess it might be possible to do what I want?

Peace,
Max

You could try the following if your keyboard has aftertouch:

Place expression control on a MIDI channel.
Place your audio clip of the forest ambience in an audio channel.
Place EQ8 in the MIDI channel (we're gonna move it over to the audio channel after mapping, this is just for convenience).
Enable any of the 8 filters in EQ8, and choose a bellcurve for it.
In Expression Control, map Aftertouch to this filter's Gain (choose a range you like, most likely min 50/neutral, max anything up to a 100).
Still in Expression Control, map Keytrack to that same EQ8 filter's Freq.
Drag over this EQ8 into the audio channel. Expression Control will still affect EQ8 (note you could have mapped this EQ8 if is was here all the time as well, but it's far less convenient).
Now play the Forest clip. With it still playing, go to your MIDI channel and "play" the EQ8 which is now affecting the audio clip.
I have no idea how Keytrack scales to Frequency, I'm sure someone else can chime in here, but the idea works.

Unless you wanted each EQ frequency to stay where you've changed it to, then this won't achieve that.

Alternately you could leave out Aftertouch completely, and just set the EQ8 filter to the desired level, and then have have Keytrack control the frequency.

I want forest ambience now.

Cool, yes that worked! :D Nice idea, didn't think of that.
Enjoy the forest ambience :P

For frequency if you map like A1-A2 to an EQ freq limited to range 440hz-880hz, I'm pretty sure it is tonal (autofilter also).

It's been a while since I've used that m4l device. Does it have a Slew amounf?
