Roger Linn said he's been talking to Ableton about it, but that's all he would say about it. He was at Loop all day Saturday demoing the Linnstrument for many people though (using GarageBand or maybe Logic, hard to see) so you're obviously not alone in being interested about it.

lots of cool stuff in there.

Looking forward to 9.5

Push 2 seems a bit expensive though.

Where are you getting a price for Push 2?

Considering that Maschine Studio is $999 I could see how you could compare them anyway.
I'm not sold yet. My feelings on Push are lukewarm at best, the LEDs on the buttons are all way too dim, everything looks too similar, it definitely sacrifices massive amounts of interface usability for aesthetics. Compared side by side with Maschine it loses in every way really, except for the 8X8 launch bed.

A tiny little picture isn't telling me much, hopefully they fixed a lot of what I mentioned here, but as far as labeling it doesn't look like it. It looks like something you have to learn to use properly, jumping right in you run into, "OK how do I do this?" all over the place. Just like Push 1.0. :x

That said the new Simpler features are freaking cool as hell! 8)

And there it is... I could never be happy with the 4x4 pads. So it immediately requires another midi controller for note playing... and that does not cover triggering session view clips where the 4x4 pads are also woefully inadequate.

For me Push wins hands down right there, regardless of anything else. And of course Push is using Live instead of its own separate software.

MPE is clearly the future for controllers and I am surprised Abes hasn't done this yet. Ill be happy if they do it in the next version. I want to hear what Carla Scarlatti had to say at Loop.

Her best comment was that if developers implemented everything their users wanted, all companies would have the same product in the end. :)

Maschine isn't made for controlling Live, I'm just comparing it in terms of it's own device, Maschine Studio interacts far better with Maschine software than Push does with Live, anyone who owns both would have to agree. I would have a hard time believing anyone would think the interface for Push was somehow more user friendly than Maschine Studio. Ableton IMO sacrificed UI for aesthetics. Hopefully some of that is fixed with Push 2, hard to tell as of yet.

I purchased Bitwig for the MPE support. And I'm planning to purchase a Linnstrument. If Ableton were to add MPE I'd be very happy with that!

I am surprised that didn't get implemented this go around. It's going to be mandatory soon. I'll get the new Push but also the Linnstrument. I think it would play very well with Elektron gear like my A4.

All of that is moot for me... 8x8 overwhelmingly beats 4x4! 4x4 is a total show stopper (for me). The Push user interface is good enough for me. I also have no interest to avoid my lovely 27" screen. For many of my DAW tasks, screen and mouse is better than Maschine or Push so for those sorts of situations, it does not matter to me how the two controllers compare.

I have an AK... If one were to select the same preset for each of the 4 voices, each mono, could the Linnstrument play all 4 like a poly patch with poly modulation? seems do-able!

Should be a monster. Set the mod to control cut off or some other feature. I imagine the Virus TI and Monomachine would also make great candidates.
