Does iZotope need to be bought by a bigger company?

Post by beats me » Wed Aug 05, 2015 9:18 pm

It seems as soon as one of their sales ends they are blasting me again with more emails about a new sale and their “Only …days left!” reminders. Sounds like they are really desperate for me to buy their products. :?

They should pull a Sweetwater and have one of the main guys give you a call and introduce themselves by their first name.
Sometimes the care and desparation in his voice sounds like he's about to offer up his wife if you BUY IT NOW.
Not that that's a bad thing...

I love my Sweetwater rep!! I bought one thing from them like 5 years ago and the guy still leaves sincere sounding voicemails a couple times a year. :) I never call back. :|

I take people I can’t hang out with on the regular for granted, which describes just about everybody I know.

But on the customer service side I wish I would get similar calls from my property management company “Hey, just checking in to see how that annual rent increase is working out for you. I have it noted here that you told me to go fuck myself for the past 6 consecutive years in a row and we continue to appreciate your input on how we really don’t give a damn. Call me when you get a chance!”

If Sweetwater was Amazon they’d just put your rep in the box that they are shipping your purchase in.

Sweetwater blew it with me. My guy would call alllllllll the fucking time like we're old best friends. Then when I'm on tour and shit breaks, I order it up with next day delivery to the hotel I'll be landing at. They call and say they can't ship to the address that doesn't match the address on the card. I said are you fucking kidding me, who do you think this is? You guys are the ones calling ME all the damn time. I'm a touring professional musician but you're only going to ship the shit I need to my house? I don't even have a house, I've been on the road for 14 months.

I tell him this, and then I get an e-mail 20 minutes later from Frank, my new point of contact at Sweetwater, there to help me out any way he can! Sorry guys, no more business from me.

Are you saying you have to resort to Guitar Center?

So anybody think iZotope is in trouble? I know Ozone has a big following but I’m willing to bet for a majority of the users it’s used as an uneducated lazy mastering tool to compete in the loudness wars.

I really hope not.

I use RX daily for audio restoration work and I don't know of anything that matches its features in that price range.

Iris is a great sound design tool too.

I wonder how much they're missing from piracy.

@ the mods - so is this thread going to be locked like the 'Apple will now pay artists during Apple Music free trial' thread?

i ask because i'm noticing the same elements...

pertains to a product
product has features
some people like it
some people do not
additional products/services mentioned
financial information regarding products and/or services is being discussed
opinions

what an outrage and clear threat to the sanity and sanctity of the forum.

ffs.

Maybe the problem is their products are too niche and their partnership with BT didn’t exactly result in really groundbreaking must have plugins.
