Drum Design Synths

Post by Dhji » Tue Aug 11, 2015 5:13 am

I'm looking for a 'best' or a best combination of drum design synths. I know some of you out there have experienced many or if not all of them and im wondering which ones you have stuck with!

Thank you!

Big fan of Microtonic here, some really cool performance and MIDI funtionality if that's your thing.

I have several Drum Machines, such as the MC-909, RS7K, RX7, R-70, DR-880, etc. But I'm always looking for something with a better workflow and interface, better storage and firmware. Until I found Live + Push, that's the drum machine that I've been waiting for, specially for sound design using the Instruments and Processors like Collision, Corpus, Drum Rack, M4L, etc. I own the original Wavedrum, WDm and WD Global, Collision and Corpus is a really great addition to the limited editing of the Wavedrum. The Suite version also comes with a lot of sample material to start with. Also Push can be used to control analog drum machine via Live https://youtu.be/5u_EUTYA5Mo

I have tons of my favorite Patternariums saved as loops to use in my songs, kind of amazing how good some of them turned out through random chance and voting.

Tremor from FXpansion is also quite Nice and completely Synth-based. No samples at all. And Never forget about Operator! Its pretty awesome for drums. I made some tracks where all the drums are made with it.
+somewhere in the u-he Forum on kvr you can find a Template for Zebra which is made for drums where the 4 lanes in the Matrix are mapped to just 1 key, so you can make 4 different drums with one instance of zebra
