Anyone buy one yet? What's the verdict on the pads?

I'm also sitting on the sidelines, waiting for some videos to surface...

I may buy one in a month if there aren't any reviews on youtube showing up. I have a reference MPD24 with fat pads and pad corx and that plays like a champ. The MPD24 is on it's last leg with the buttons so yea it's time for a new one.

The features that makes me want this controller so much is that it has an onboard sequencer on it so you can use a power adapter and midi out to your favorite synth/drum machine. I'm wishing it has a groove like a 2000XL.

Yep that's why I'm contemplating one as well...I have an mpd32 and it's still one of my favorite pieces of gear. I use a Feeltune Rhizome for all my step sequencer needs presently, but portability it right out the window with that beast.

Yo CM! just ordered mine on amazon. I had a 108 dollars in discover credit that was burning a hole in my pocket. Hopefully the editor software is good. I plan on using it for my analog rytm, octatrack, sp1200, studio 440 and ensoniq eps . I got a tripod so I will film a video review soon.

Cool! Look forward to seeing the vid. Here's some editor info posted by the same guy:

Not to switch gears but I've been debating the octatrack for some time now, you get a lot of use out of it? And what do you primarily use it for? thanks

Just got it last night and the pads feel like the mpc stuff fat pads but noticeably softer. IF the next hardware MPC controller / rennaisance 2 has these pads it will make a difference. The pads have the right amount of thickness, softness, and sensitivity that you can detailed round robin samples more expressively. I spent 3 hours just playing stuff in battery4 and in my drum racks.

The Octatrack is a deep machine. You have to be patient with it. It's not an instant bang on machine like the SP404, Electribe sampler, or an mpc. You need to slice your sounds, but once the slices are in place you can really get deep into it with the LFO tool and the effects. So far I am just mastering the LFO tool piece and the same loops you play with over and over can go somewhere different often. So the way I plan on making my MPD232 preset for this machine is to use each pad with a CC message. Your sample slices are triggered on the machine by MIDI CC not MIDI note. If you plan to look for an Octatrack look around the gear for sale section of elektronauts. Elektronauts sellers tend to take care of their gear much better. I got mine used from these and the person I bought my octatrack from only had it from four months from the day her got it. I also picked up a moog voyager from there and my analog keys.
