Ableton 9.2.2 64 bit keeps crashing

Post by GentlemanJackLUX » Thu Aug 27, 2015 8:07 pm

Hello everyone, Ableton 9.2.2 keeps crashing while I use Native Instruments Massive on both my Mac and PC; is anyone else experiencing these problems with other 3rd party VSTs after the new version of Ableton? These problems only started recently and they are extremely frustrating. After 5 minutes or so of tinkering in Massive, the DAW crashes unexpectedly.
Should I contact support to ask for a previous version of AL or is there a fix?
Thanks :)

Keep older versions around for some time. Don't have automatic updates on. This way you can go back if sudden issues arise.

You don't tell which version of Massive. Latest or…? Did you actually update only Live or did you change your setup in some other way?

How can I install the previous Live 9 version?

You should also contact support@ableton.com, they'll help you with this issue.

Serum works fine and Massive is running the latest update which is 1.5 so I guess I'll keep using serum until NIM's problem is solved. Do you happen to know if NIM's wavetables can be imported into the Serum folder? I saw some people on the ADSRproduction network with the NIM wavetables in Serum.

I contacted support but I think it may be a problem on NIM's side since Serum works perfectly. Do you happen to know how to import the NIM wavetables into serum? Thanks :)

Unfortunately I don't have Serum, so wouldn't know. I'm still on Massive 1.4.2. I just upgraded to Live 9.2.2 and I have had zero issues so far after some hours.

I have the same problem. Windows 10 PC with Ableton 9.2.2 and Massive 1.5.0. I have sent a message to support@ableton.com.

I am not using Massive and Live was not crashing prior to 9.2.2 so that is where the problem lies. It appears this latest update has some undetected issues.

From Ableton support:
Thanks for sending over these reports.

The crash right now appears to be related to the Replika plugin by Native Instruments.

The 1.2.2 version of this plugin does crash with Live, and this is a bug which Native Instruments is aware of. Fortunately, the next update to the plugin should fix this problem.

Alternatively, you can reach out to Native Instruments for a downgrade to version 1.2.1 of the plugin, which will work fine in Live 9.2.2.

If you wish to stop the crashes now, you can temporarily remove this plugin from your custom VST folder. If you aren't sure where this folder is, you can check in Live's preferences, under the File/Folder tab.

If you can't even open Live to see that, hold the "Alt" key while starting Live to disable plugin scanning.

9.2.3 is going to be an interesting release, since it will make Live more stable in many important parts.

Live sale is until 9/23, maybe it's somehow related :)

i have a cpu issue with 9.2.2 64bit (not tested with 32 bit version)

lets say i open song 1 with live ver. 9.2.1 cpu is on 27 %

same song open with 9.2.2 cpu is over 55 %

strange stuff, rest of tools (NI, UAD Plugins and MAX4Live all with latest version)

only ableton live version has changed.

Do you have lots of warped samples using Complex/pro in this set?
