record MIDI effects
record MIDI effects
Hello.
What I want to achieve is the following:
In Live I set up a MIDI track with its effects (transpose, scale, chord). When I play the track all effects are included.
However I want to transfer that "complete effected" MIDI track in to another track (which will include all applied effects).
I have Ableton Live 9 Intro, and Logic Pro 8, on Snow Leopard. I don't know if I need to use rewired Logic for that purpose, in any case it is OK for me.
I am not a power-user of Ableton Live, so I need a simple but complete explanation...
Thank you all in advance! Best, O8

Re: record MIDI effects
What you're looking for is called an Effects Rack. You can put all your MIDI effects in an Effects rack and save it for use on any MIDI track. Refer to page 238 of the Ableton Live manual for complete details and instructions.

Re: record MIDI effects
Thanks. I think I haven't been so clear, English is not my native language.
What I want is to capture output of a MIDI track with effects in to another MIDI track that doesn't have these effects but have captured everything (including the main MIDI track and as well effects).

Re: record MIDI effects
make another track, a MIDI track.
You need to make the track routing I/O section visible
set the input of that New track to be the output of your originating track
arm the new track for record and you will see the midi effected notes as the new input for the new track,
these output notes of the old track will be recorded into the new track as the input

Re: record MIDI effects
Hmmmm, the above example will only capture midi data, right? It won't capture any effect information (which I think the OP is after).
I think if you want to capture the effects too, you do exactly as above but instead of inserting a midi track, you insert and audio track. The track, and all the effects will then be captured as one audio file.
Is that what you're looking for, mate?

Re: record MIDI effects
he says
So he's trying to capture the result of the MIDI chain
the effects he's talking about appear to be MIDI ones: transpose, scale and chord.a MIDI track with its effects (transpose, scale, chord)
So he's trying to capture the result of the MIDI chain

Re: record MIDI effects
Ah - you are absolutely correct! In which case then, the original solution will work perfectly!
Carry on!
