i´M LOOKING FOR FOLLOWING FUNCTION!

I want to get a Gate-Effect on a long Dronesample to create minimal rhythms.
So the long Sample should start from the beginning muted and when i push a key on my keyboard it should open the gate!
It seeems to be simple- but it´s not!
i can take the MIDI-Learn Funcion to set the chanel on and off BUT!!!i have to push the button twice. on for muting and one for sample on.
i didn´t find a way to set the sample on and off only with on push on the key.i allways need two pushs.
is there anybody out there who could solve the problem or is there any max/msp function allready programmed??
thanks in advance!

The only thing I can think of is this...

Use your keyboard to play a basic synth sound with a fast attack, 100% hold level, and a fast decay.

Feed this into the side chain input of a gate.

Feed your drone into the other input.

You should be able to set it up so that the drone is only transmitted through the gate when the other sound is playing.

Hello Mingual,

Here is a solution that should work:
  • create a MIDI track with an instrument able to play a simple tone like a sine wave (see what you can get from Simpler, Operator, Analog, etc.)
  • be sure to keep the MIDI track armed or press its Monitor [In] button (orange)
  • put a Gate audio effect at the end of your long sample audio track
  • activate the Gate's sidechain function, connect the sidechain audio input to the MIDI instrument
  • start your long sample audio clip, it should be silent because the gate is closed
  • play on your MIDI keyboard, the MIDI instrument should now open the Gate and thus let you here your long audio sample
  • you can control the length of the gated sounds directly from the length of your MIDI notes
  • bonus: you can invert the behavior of the Gate and then get a different musical effect simply by clicking on its "Flip" button (you get a "Ducker")
Et voilà! :)
