Synchronizing two computers with an USB/MIDI interface

Hi everyone,

i'd like to synchronize a macbook and a portable pc.
As i'am not sure that my friend owning the macbook has an external soundcard with a MIDI input, i'd like to use an USB/MIDI interface like this one:

The goal is to synchronize two livesets for live performances.

I'd like to ask you if my idea will work, and if anybody here has any experience in this kind of configuration.
