Clean power running via a consumer unit up there would be a big plus. Also see if you can get as many sockets as possible, dot them around the studio mid room height if possible

Doing the acoustics for it might be a bit of a mare, but you can go a long way with plenty of bass absorption and a few panels. I wouldn't get too worried about it if you aren't mastering or doing it as a full time job/occupation. You could always get a few stand-mounted acoustic panels to place around the mix position if you want to cut down the room width when doing final eq/mix.
In South Wales, as in Wales, UK? Same here if so, where in the glorious valleys are ya? or are you more towards the city/coast side?
Yeah in the UK... Nice to meet a fellow Welshman haha. Its in the Bridgend area. Where abouts you from?

cool, I am a up in Ebbw Vale. Not too far really. Good luck with the room, look forward to seeing the updates.

Well its getting closer and closer to being finished. New monitors and stands ordered. Need to get the rest of my gear in here and setup. Then its just the bass traps from GIK that i need to sort out. I cannot wait to start making music in this space

New monitors sounding sweet.... Still burning them in though. Question, do you think having the monitors on the desk will interfere with the sound? Just need to treat the room now.

Typically it's not that idea to have your monitors on your desk, it can cause a lot of comb filtering as reflections bounce off the desk. Maybe put your main monitors on the stands, and put the reference set on the desk.

Did you DIY that desk? pretty cool ... I would go superchunks in the corners .. and do soundclouds.

No got the desk off the internet. Getting some monster bass traps for the corners soon and then going to treat the early reflection points. Yeah the main monitors are on the stand at the minute. But was just wondering if the sound from the woofers of those speakers would be interfered with. Because the sound would hit the monitors on the desk? If it would make a big difference i could just move them off until required.

Hey man, you're probably going to want to move those monitors if you've got a mechanical drive in that iMac. A few years back I had one of my monitors right up against my computer, a G5 Power Mac, and vibrations put out from the speakers ended up corrupting the hard drive. I don't know for sure that was the case, but I am guessing those bass vibrations were sort of like constantly shaking the drive, while it was being written to, which isn't a good thing for a physical drive. Maybe things have changed with drives, but I thought it worth mentioning.
Congrats on the new space, looks awesome!
