Video in Windows 10/64-bit?
Video in Windows 10/64-bit?
Has anyone tackled this combo yet? The help article on the subject is definitely pre-Windows 10, and neither of the suggested codecs show any sign of being updated for Windows 10.
EDIT: I tried the free solution in the article after all, and it seems to be working.

Posted some time ago, for me it crashes Live every time, in the workstation and in the laptop...
Re: Video in Windows 10/64-bit?
I'm using k-lite Codec for mp4 files with no problems on Windows 10/64-Bit with Live 9.5:

Thanks - I think I might have to check that out. As of now, Live will work for a while and then all of a sudden it'll burst into an awful crackle-fest when there's a bit of strain with several sounds, and I have to restart. Which version are you using? (Basic, Standard, Full or Mega)?

IIRC, some of these free codecs try to load some crapware and change some of your default file and search associations. I always turn off those options.
Re: Video in Windows 10/64-bit?
Cheers. I just installed the mega version and noticed the "bonuses" it was trying to install. I'm still getting a lot of pops and crackles when I have a video track in Live. Haven't had the complete crackle-glitch breakdown after installing the K-Lite codec, but it's still quite unbearable.
It really is beyond me why video and 64-bit seems to be such a big problem.

Re: Video in Windows 10/64-bit?
I followed the same procedure in my previous post here:

Got video to work on a Windows 10 with Live 9 64 bit.
Video quality is just SD though. Live still has a hard time playing back HD videos. For putting music to video you won't be needing HD video though IMHO. I use .MOV containers with H.264 codecs.
Hope this helps.

Re: Video in Windows 10/64-bit?
Yeah, that's what I ended up doing, too. I compressed the video as much as I could, so that it was just a tiny little file, and it was a lot better working with that. At that point, I'd watched the HD version so much that I didn't need to see every little detail.
Re: Video in Windows 10/64-bit?
I just wanted to let folks know that the codec pack suggested by ChangoM above is working great for me on Win 10 x64 using h264 MP4 files. Very stable and almost no CPU load. I uninstalled the codecs suggested by Ableton first.
Re: Video in Windows 10/64-bit?
Also in Win7/64bit the standard codecs did not work, but the suggested codecs by Ableton work like a charm - why not build in some working codecs for the different OS from Microsoft and Apple? Ableton is expensive enough to include these....
