When do we get bounce-in-place? Not freeze

Post by keyman_sam » Fri Dec 04, 2015 2:39 am

I can't think of how many times I've been recording midi to audio parts constantly due to Live's bounce shortcomings.

Will we ever get the ability to bounce in place a midi track to audio by just drag and drop (without freeze) - so I have a midi clip, I just drag it down to an audio track and a bounce is created.

Problem with freeze is that it takes too many clicks to unfreeze and show the GUI of the plugin. Freeze is so 2008. It's about time we got bounce :)

not to mention one is left with a whole library full of said "freezes" that are not bounced. So library then gets nice and clogged with obsolete "freezes", a bounce function would be great, I was thinking about this a couple of days ago actually. I freeze 90% of tracks now due to 9.5 cpu issues.

This would be very convenient.

Bounce (convert on Push 2) MIDI track to Simpler would save me quite a bit of time, not having to route and resample.

Well let's see, I know that for myself I've been requesting it / hoping for it / whining about it for, hmm, yes 5 years now.

Which means either A.it's never gonna happen, or B. we're almost there!

With warp in Simpler, that sounds suddenly quite likely.

I hope you're right, but yeah, I can't complain, the new Simpler is one of the greatest updates to Live in ages, I think I like it better than everything added in V.9

Agreed! My favourite thing Ableton has released since Push 1.

Posting stuff like this is more effective in Feature Wishlist (or both) and writing to Ableton about, or calling them, or starting petitions for.

I agree this would be useful in many cases, but I'm more concerned with flattening not working as well as expected. I still use it though.

Really need 'bounce to new audio track' and 'convert midi track to audio track' with insert effects left in place. Would kill for this feature right about now!

I agree this would be very convenient. You do know about copy and paste, right? That's how I do your second request right now:
  • Cut effects
  • Freeze/Flatten
  • Paste effects
And the first would be:
  • Duplicate track
  • Freeze/Flatten
I know it's obvious, but maybe not for everyone so worth mentioning.
