specific to Suite, or Live tips in general?

either way... my best Live tip: Learn what 'Collect All & Save' does and use it, often.

It’s great! But for now I would hold off on using third party plugins. Or changing the tempo. Or arrange view. Or racks. Or using a hardware controller that isn’t Push 1 or 2.

Really I would just stick to farting around with the new Simpler. It’s pretty awesome. But don’t do anything you might want to save or open later.

:)

Best tip I can give is to install it before you try and use it.

My first biggest head ache in Ableton was........

dropping a song from itunes in Ableton and warping it till I had it perfect. I'd save the .asd file.....it's in the manual, but basically it enables me to drop that file into Ableton later and have it warped the same.....All good.....

BUT then I might change the song's name in itunes and lose the link between the .asd file and the tune.

I learned I can fix this by renaming the .asd file as well

Itunes doesn't do it for you so you have to go into the itunes file structure.

Good Luck

Note that renaming the ASD file doesn't always work, the best way to rename a file and make sure you don't lose your warping and clip settings is from within Live's browser.

Enjoy the built in lessons, read the manual and don't take some of the forum posters too seriously.

The best tip I can think of is to not rely on tips and other people telling you what to do. Instead, dive into it and start using it everyday until you feel you know it like you know your best friend.

Really, in learning music production or any similar craft there is no substitute to learning by doing. That will give you experience which is more valuable than anything else.

I was making a bit of a joke. Are you the same member who believed me when I said Ableton is going to officially release Link next Tuesday because they don’t want to compete with the new Star Wars release? :)

Who said I believed you? Actually someone on this post said never to trust advice on this forum. Looks like he was talking straight to you...

If you're either referring to this post:
Do not rely on the forum for everything lol...
Or my post:

.. then you're misreading the message :)

We're both not saying that you should never trust advice on the forum. What we're saying is: you cannot study your way into music production; that is a common misconception. The best way to learn music production and software like Ableton, is to just get busy with it and learn it inside out by working with it. That's the core of the message. It's not that you should never trust advice, it's just that advice is only going to help you with some things, but isn't a substitute for getting busy with the tool and mastering it that way.
