Mac Newbie Audio Recording Problem
Hi all,
I've just moved over to using a Mac. I've installed live and a few packs. All my live sets are running smoothly. However, when I record external sound sources into live via my saffire 6 usb interface, the resulting recording is playing back in a way I can only describe as stuttering and clicky. I've checked my buffers at all settings and still the same thing happens. My interface is plugged directly into a usb port. I'm simply recording a synth output into the Saffire 6 (version 1)
Any ideas why this might be happening? I know very little about the set up of macs for audio. I have however been making music with Live for years so know my way around the settings. I'm just a bit puzzled as to why I can't record a clean signal.
I have the up to date drivers for the Saffire. Has anyone else run into problems with the Saffire 6 (version 1)?
Live 9.5
Mac Book Pro retina 13" i7 with 16gb of RAM.
OS - El Capitan
Cheers.

Sample rate is 44100
I've tried every buffer size and it's always the same outcome. .

Re: Mac Newbie Audio Recording Problem
Ok...seems like it may be an El Capitan issue...

Re: Mac Newbie Audio Recording Problem
I think you may be right. Not quite the mac experience I was hoping for. I've just noticed updated drivers on the Safire 6 USB 1.1 on the Focusrite site. I'll give these a go and see if it solves the problem.

Later edit - The driver update solves this issue.

Re: Mac Newbie Audio Recording Problem
I had a similar problem with my Audiobox 1818vsl. On the PC, the device worked perfectly. On the mac I would get pops and clicks in the audio recordings.
Turned out the problem was that the vsl mixing software did not work well with Mountain Lion. If I turned off the vsl mixing software and just used the sound card in a driverless state (some sound cards on macs can work using OS X built-in drivers), it worked fine but I couldn't use the vsl mixer.
I'm pretty sure the problem is fixed now but I'm using a different interface now. One of things though to watch out for on Macs, they update their Operating Systems a lot more frequently than Microsoft (approx once a year). This can often create issues if you update to the new Operating system too quick. I usually wait about six months or so before upgrading the Operating system. Usually by then all of the bugs are sorted out.
