Hi guys and girls, im pretty new to this music making thing so plz bare with me im currently using ableton lite which I love more than any other software ive used, right my question is what if any is the best vst to use with ableton for arppegiator and also drums if there isn't one built in, ive got some chords for a track im working on currently in ableton and im wanting to add percussion and also abit of arpeggiator.

Also is there some printable shortcuts etc for ableton I can have close to me

You have drum racks in Live for percussion, check out the presets. Live also has verious midi effects including and arpegiator.

Maybe upgrade to suite to get the instruments. Or if you want to check out some vsts here is a list:

I'm the percussion for an ableton using industrial band, and for many years I tried tweaking the drums in ableton, 808s etc and whatnot and it never did what I wanted.

I'd suggest Massive. The sounds it can produce are awesome, I've never been happier with my snares - brutal and cutting, but without being distorted, and kicks are fat etc.
Loads on youtube about making drums in it, and while the process might seem daunting, just do what they do a few times and you'll realise your actually pretty on top of the whole synth, and how it works, you'll learn loads without even knowing it.

Other than this, I wanted some "wardrum" type sounds and just searched on google "ableton wardrum free" or whatever and got an awesome live pack with some Taikos in it. It was a little cheeky, I said free and it offered the samples for free but I had to pay for the pack, but SO worth it! It was a "give what you think its worth" type deal, so very cheap. When I've got a bit more cash I'm gonna check his other packs and over spend on one to make up for it. Anyway, people spend their time making these packs and they want you to try them out, just have a look.

For synth, its not really my thing so much, but Massive again, is great. The Arpegiator in ableton is cool, you can do some great stuff with it, and between arpeggiator, beat repeat and delay you're pretty set. The only thing missing is a T3 delay from Traktor, but I've ranted about this in other posts so wont do it again here.
A way to get something close-ish to this is group two arpegiators in separate chains. Put their sync rates to one macro dial, leave one groove on Straight, and the other swung, but controlled by the syn rate macro so it keeps up. Not perfect, but gives some super fun rhythms.

Hi guys thanks for the replys, I totally love ableton, my inspiration is jean Michel jarre, I love his music, im trying to come up with ideas for music similar to his, especially oxygene, does anyone know of any vsts/plugins etc for ableton where I can get the sounds from oxygene, or very similar.

Another things, is it possible when using ableton I can save what ive recorded so far as mp3 or something and then load it onto my phone to listen to when im out and about, to listen and try and improve.
