How to have an on/off looping clip in drum rack?

Post by blobbyghast » Thu Jan 14, 2016 10:47 pm

Hello, I am using the Push with Drum Rack to play live beats and live keyboard parts / etc. I don't want to swap between modes (note / session), I want to keep it simple and remain within 1 drum rack.

How do I set it up so that when I press a pad, it endlessly loops the clip until I press the pad a 2nd time?

I know that I've set this up before, but I just can't remember how. I've been using Arpeggiator to loop the clips with the beat, which works perfectly, except I don't know how to turn them off once they start (unless I have it set so that I have to hold the pad down).

Thank you for any help.

change the clip launch behaviour to "toggle"

Hmm, that would be the case within Session view, but I'm not using Session. I'm only playing within a Drum Rack, and want to stay entirely within this one Drum Rack. I have the kick drum looping with Arpeggiator, but I don't get how to make that pad toggle the loop on/off.

This is the looping kick setup, I just need to figure out how to get it to stop once it starts:

I know there is a very simple solution, but I just can't figure it out :(

I don't have Max :(

I was sure that I had solved this simply once before... but maybe I'm wrong?

arppegiator isnt "looping" the clip....arp is looping the sample within the clip...

you can hold mute on push and tap the pad to mute it......same result...

or keymap to the 'HOLD' /LATCH on the arp....then you can kill it with a key while you on other pads

Use the 'Random' midi effect.

It lets you alternate your note. So if it's C3, each time you trigger C3, it'll be C3, C#3, C3, C#3.

Place it before the Arp. After the arp, configure your simpler so it is only triggered on C3, and not C#3.

Yur2Die4, THANK YOU SO MUCH. That is exactly what I was looking for. I'm doing it with the Pitch MIDI effect set to 0 range on C3.

Thank you also to everyone else that tried to help me!

I'm wanting to do the same thing, I couldn't figure out the setup so that only one note triggers the sample and stops it.

I found an alternate solution that I thought I'd post here: I setup a dummy clip (a hi-hat with volume and gain all the way down) and put both on the same choke group. So when I hit the dummy clip it stops the first loop.

Thought I'd post in case anyone else was looking for this.

Cheers.
