Live 9.6 - Anyone else got the little purple hand?
Just updated to Live 9.6. All seems to be working except that all my plugins used in a set now have a little purple hand on them. This seems to imply that they have parameters that are being controlled externally which they are not. I didn't have it in 9.1.7. Anyone else found this?

Is there a MIDI device selected in your preferences?

Yes. But it's not set to control anything in most of my sets other than notes.Tarekith wrote:Is there a MIDI device selected in your preferences?
And none of the devices have anything I've set to be controlled.

1, do you have anything selected as 'control surfaces' in midi preferences?
2. Do you have an Arturia product? 9.6 just introduced some added controller features for Arturia products. Fun news!

Yes, Ive got my Roland A300 Pro. But the thing is that it's not set up to control anything - well, at least, I've not set up anything. And in 9.1.7 no little purple hand came up but now in 9.6 it does.yur2die4 wrote:do you have anything selected as 'control surfaces' in midi preferences?
No Arturia stuff here. But I'm now thinking that in between 9.1.7 and 9.6 Ableton added some sort of support for my controller. Not quite sure what it's supposed to be doing but I don't really want it doing anything unless I tell it to.Do you have an Arturia product? 9.6 just introduced some added controller features for Arturia products. It just means that whenever you see that hand, you're controller is automatically mapped to control that device. Each time you select a new device, the controller mapping changes to follow. Nothing will happen if you're not turning knobs on the controller, it's just a visual reminder that your controller is mapped to a specific advice.

Right I understand now. I've just never seen it before and have always set up my controllers manually. I'm still not sure that I like to have controllers connecting themselves behind the scenes so it would be nice to be able to turn it off.
Thanks for the help though. It's very much appreciated.

You can just deselect your controller from the control surfaces section of the preferences. If you still want to use the keyboard just to enter notes, you can still do that manually just below the control surfaces section where it says MIDI ports. Just turn "Track" on and leave the rest off.

Thanks Erik. Just done that. I've never seen that controller section before. I guess it must have been there in 9.1 but I've not noticed it before. I've still kept the remote section ticked for my controller in the midi I/O list so I can control things - but only as I've set them up and not automatically done by the purple hand gang.
Right now to play with all these new filter types.
