VSTS not showing in folder
Im trying to install izotope vinyl into ableton live and when i select my vst folder and install there, it wont show in Ableton.
How can I fix this?
How can I fix this?
Re: VSTS not showing in folder
If you are running ableton 32 bit you must install 32 bit vsts, if you are running ableton 64 bit you must install 64 bit vsts. If you install the wrong bit version it will not show up in your vst folder.

Re: VSTS not showing in folder
Izotope just released a 64-bit version of Vinyl (version 1.8.0)
I installed & authorized both the 64-bit AU & VST 2, & verified the version numbers in the respective Library/Audio/Plug-Ins folders as 1.8.0.
No problem with the AU, both 32-bit & 64-bit versions of Live see it.
The VST is having this problem:
Live 9.2.3 & 9.6 64-bit do NOT see the VST.
Live 9.2.3 32-bit does see the VST.
It’s as if the VST was still the 32-bit version.
I deleted the VST & re-installed it, & still experience this issue.
I contacted Izotope support, & received the reply:
“There are currently no known issues with Vinyl 1.80 and the current version of Ableton Live (9.6).”
OS X 10.9.5

Sounds right to me..
And you've tried the rescan option in preferences?

Re: VSTS not showing in folder
Rescanning the Plug-Ins folder in Live was something I did immediately after installing Vinyl 1.8.0.
Re: VSTS not showing in folder
Right. ..sorry if it all sounds redundant.
Maybe someone with precise experience with Izotope newest version will chime in.

Re: VSTS not showing in folder
I'm following up with Izotope support & calling their attention to this forum topic.
I'd advise that anyone experiencing this contact Izotope Support so we can alert them to this problem:

And your suggestion to rescan the Plug-Ins folder is completely appropriate. It's good advice.

Re: VSTS not showing in folder
I registered and downloaded the new (free) iZotope delay and Vinyl plug-ins last night. Delay worked fine, and Vinyl just doesn't show up, although it installs fine, the program files go to the correct place, and the .dlls show up in the proper plug-in folder. I think having one work and Vinyl fail is pretty good proof that there is a problem with the Vinyl VST and Ableton 9.6 (all 64 bit / PC, btw).

Sent to iZotope support:
Hello,
Last night, I registered and downloaded the new free DDLY and Vinyl plugins. I'm running Ableton Live 64 bit on PC. I followed the same installation process for both products. The DDLY VST (64 bit) is working fine, but the Vinyl is not. Everything from Vinyl seems to be showing up in the proper directories, I re-scanned the plug-in folder, but I still do not see Vinyl in the Ableton Live plugin devices.
I tried reinstalling and that did not help. Again, I followed the same steps for both and only DDLY is working properly.
I did a search of the Ableton forum and found others reporting the same.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Re: VSTS not showing in folder
Please considering contacting Izotope about this, especially since this problem is now effecting two of their VSTs.

The most recent reply I received from Izotope is that they were unable to reproduce this issue, & they were passing the report to their Product Development Team for consideration and troubleshooting in further updates of Vinyl.

Reply from iZotope (which still leaves me with some questions, haven't had a chance to try any changes yet):
Thanks for contacting us, and I’m sorry for any trouble you’ve experienced! We have seen this issue on a few systems; this is usually fixed by reinstalling Vinyl without designating a unique file path or plug-in type. This ‘easy install’ seems to be more effective on some systems in designated proper file paths for the installer.
Additionally, you may need to rescan your plug-ins in Ableton Live in order for recently downloaded plug-ins to appear.
Please let me know if you have any further difficulty, thanks!

Re: VSTS not showing in folder
I have a custom plug-in path, so I have a feeling this isn't going to work.
Re: VSTS not showing in folder
This is most likely a .dll 32 or 64 bit issue. rescan.

Re: VSTS not showing in folder
Izotope has come up with the solution!
"I’ve been working with our development team to try and reproduce this issue and we may have found a solution.
Please try rescanning your plug-ins in Ableton Live by holding down the Option key and clicking the Rescan button in Live’s preferences.
iZotope Customer Care"
This worked for me. Now all my 64-bit versions of Live show Vinyl in the Browser, & it's working fine.
