Guys,
I use this function so often. I find its position and 2 key stoke is a pain. SONAR has a much simpler (and definable) key. Just simply "N". Is there an alternative to SNAP ON/OFF on Ableton?
SNAP ON/OFF is there Alternative to CTRL 4?

holding command (mac) or ctrl (pc) while dragging will un-snap that clip from the grid, but there's no alternative way to disable the grid itself - only cmd/ctrl-4 will do it.

Dang. ok thanks mate

If you're on a mac, you can try BetterTouchTool that will let you assign any key to perform any key combination.
That way you can keep the same keyboard shortcuts between applications.
I'm sure there's a Windows app for that too.

If you use TouchOSC anyway, it can generate keystrokes via TouchOSC Bridge.
ClyphX can't generate keystrokes itself, but it can send MIDI to a virtual MIDI cable.
You can then use free Bome MIDI Translator Classic to generate Ctrl+4.
Both needs a bit of preparation, but is then usable in every set.

Re: This shortcut in windows works but not on mac!!
The Control shortcut actually disables the grid in windows allowing you to make selections off grid. I don't know why it's different on Mac where CMD only disables the grid after something is being dragged. It makes it hard to use when you want to make a selection off grid. Every other daw it seems has single key grid disable shortcuts and it even works in ableton on windows. Please fix this!!! I just switched to Mac and it drives me nuts as well.
