Live 9.6 VS Live 9.2
Live 9.6 VS Live 9.2
Hi to all,
I had a strange problem with live 9.6 (Isotonik's Follow Max For Live Device hang when importing clips) so I installed Live 9.2 alongside the latest version.
I noticed that not only the previous installation does not have this issue but clips load instantly and the whole Live is more responsive.
No more hangs when adding channels, vst's or samples.
Is it the same for you? Anyone noticed this?

Re: Live 9.6 VS Live 9.2
I can't use Max For Live in 9.6 without it hanging. I've had a case open with Abes for a while. We've tried EVERYTHING. I see people complain about hanging here, but perhaps not enough complaints for Abes to take it more seriously. I'm guessing they think it's a problem with my machine.

Re: Live 9.6 VS Live 9.2
since i updated the dub machines and run the latest 9.x.beta and max
the crashes on .als-switches gone away rapidly
not sure if there are other m4l-devices wich need updates, but maybe its worth
to study some crashs-logs on your own.. some list of error-coding like MS do that for win
would be even helpfull
examples:
"Live crashed: Error 99-66-99-55"
So take the Error-List where is written:
99-Error
All Errors with 99 in the beginning are caused by M4L-Runtime. Please update your devices, m4l, or remove
them to prevent Live from crashing.
66-Error
66er-Errors are point to a conflict in the VST-Structure of one of the Instrument you are using.
The last numbers of the Errocode point on the Tracknumber and position in the devicechain.
Please update the VSTi, Bridging-tools and Versionnumber or remove to resolve this crash..
is there something like this available for the simple user ?

Re: Live 9.6 VS Live 9.2
Hey Jbone, it's not only when I use M4L, also doing some simple task like adding a clip or adding a VST is really slow.
Tagor that would be really useful. I know how to read log but the structure for 9.6 seems to be different, maybe they moved the useful infos into the crash report....
Anyone knows how to read that file?

Re: Live 9.6 VS Live 9.2
I finally had enough and repaved my PC (wiped and reinstalled Windows). Knock on wood, but everything seems to be working great. Must have been a bunch of gunk from the Windows 8.1 -> 10 upgrade and a few years of trying out who-knows-what music software.
I also wish Ableton provided some kind of log file we could read to diagnose our issues.

Re: Live 9.6 VS Live 9.2
well, there is a log.jbone1313 wrote: I also wish Ableton provided some kind of log file we could read to diagnose our issues.
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 9.VERSION-NUMBER\Preferences\Log.txt
it has lots of sexy logging in there, you can see your VSTs starting up, etc.

Yeah I know that, I used to read it for debugging but in Live 9.6 seems to be different, there's no detailed log anymore only a bunch of starting info and scripts.Angstrom wrote: well, there is a log.

Re: Live 9.6 VS Live 9.2
Yeah, IIRC, I checked that too, and it did not offer me anything helpful.
Re: Live 9.6 VS Live 9.2
This is driving me insane, uninstalled ableton, deleted ALL the previous config, folders, vst's and such...
That's always the same, slow performance compared to 9.2.3...
Any other ideas?
Thanks.
